They have immediate openings for a Mechanical & Electrical (MEP) Cost Consultant to join their growing teams across Canada. Salary $130,000-$180,000. The Mechanical / Electrical Cost Consultant will report to an Associate Director. To assist Associate Director within the department, taking responsibility for start to end service delivery. To ensure that client objectives are met through the delivery of an effective service.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE of MEP Cost Consultant
- 5 years of relevant experience
- A recognized university degree
- Membership in relevant professional organizations

Preparing Mechanical / Electrical Cost Management reports for all asset classes related to real estate throughout CanadaInterfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stagesAssisting in research related to construction market conditions throughout Canada, including analysis of official published dataAssisting Associate Director in developing new business opportunities with existing and new clientsWorking with Associate Directors and Directors to construct proposals for new work or variations for existing projectsAttendance at Client and Business Development EventsIdentifying opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates and products referring ideas to the appropriate line managerKnowledge management – Input key information and learning generated from each commissionProcess improvement – Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes referring ides to the appropriate line managerQuality Control – Ensuring compliance with quality standards and participation in ISO auditsPreparing Construction Cost Estimate reports at all stages of design for commercial, institutional and residential projects throughout CanadaManaging estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost planApplying Value Management techniques at the outset of a project and where appropriate involving client’s specialist Value Management teamPost-contract cost managementManage cost analysis, cost checking and valuation work effectivelyParticipating in Value engineering, LEED analysis and Life Cycle costingTaking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stagesLeading a cost management team, ensuring that it delivers on all of the above accountabilitiesIdentifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates and products and hence improve the service provided to clientsFinancial management – Utilizing the tools provided keep track of the ongoing margin levels and monthly fee / resource forecasts for each commissionManage post-contract cost variances and change control processes effectivelyProduce monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the clientValue engineering and life cycle costingNegotiate and agree final accountsPreparation / Quantification of Cost Plan Reports including Measurement of detailed quantities and unit pricingManage and mentor Junior and Intermediate StaffStaff management – Inputting into the formal management of cost management team, to include 1st round recruitment interviews, input into resource managementParticipate in Staff Performance ReviewsOnly candidates with authorisation to work in Canada will be considered.
