Job Summary :
In this role, you will plan, develop, and review mechanical design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure mechanical designs comply with all regulations and standards.
Major Responsibilities :
Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews design work within a small-size Mechanical design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unitProduces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailingCoordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of Mechanical engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and draftersCommunicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper managementPrepares or oversees the preparation of Mechanical design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordinglyCoordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of workReviews key Mechanical engineering drawings and calculations and bid summariesMentors Mechanical designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional developmentEnsures Mechanical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standardsEducation and Experience Requirements :
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills :
Knowledge of Smart Plant P&ID software (mandatory).Knowledge of Engineering process flow diagrams (PFD's), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's) (mandatory).Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment in concentrator plants and mining projects, instrumentation, piping and processes.Desirable knowledge in programs such as : Markup Insight, Naviswork, Power Bi, Data Broker, Aconex, etc.Knowledge of equipment and material fabrication sequencing.Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities.Knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), industry and regulatory standards, design criteria and codes relevant to the discipline.Knowledge of discipline Design Guides, mathematical formulae and design calculations used in the discipline.Knowledge of procedures used for the procurement and quantity control of bulk materials applicable to the discipline.Bechtel is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
