Engineering firm providing energy and sustainable design services for clients across Canada are currently seeking to hire intermediate – senior level Energy Modeller. The Client delivers energy, carbon, and sustainability solutions to many of British Columbia’s iconic projects across the commercial, institutional, residential, hospitality, educational, and industrial sectors. Salary range is $75,000 – $120,000 and locations include Toronto, ON and Vancouver, BC. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role.
Core Competencies of Energy Modeller / Sustainability Consultant :
- Energy Modeller will have considerable background in energy-efficient building design and simulation, energy analysis studies, energy management, and incentive programs. Expert knowledge of
HVAC and lighting systems, building control systems, building envelope design, energy conservation measures, greenhouse gas emissions, and building energy simulation programs are expected.
An engineering degree in a relevant field such as mechanical, HVAC or building servicesProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) license through EGBC or eligible for registration as P.Eng.Energy Modeller will have a minimum of two years of direct modeling experience using IES virtual environment software, with technical proficiency using APACHE HVAC to build complex HVAC networks and their associated control sequencesA minimum of 4 years of design experience, preferably in building HVAC design (including control sequences)Proven examples of projects which have been directly impacted and benefited from the use of energy modelling softwareExperience performing engineering calculations to verify accuracy of modelled resultsExperience interfacing with developers, general contractors, and consultantsNetworking experience and an ability to develop leads for future workFamiliarity with the sustainable building rating tools such as LEED, WELL, Zero Carbon Building, City of Vancouver sustainable design requirements, etc.An understanding of local and regional energy codes, including but not limited to NECB, ASHRAE 90.1, BC Step Code, and VBBLFamiliarity with the LEED green rating system, particularly the energy modeling associated with the LEED EA energy modeling creditsExperience preparing energy modelling documentation and submittalsExperience developing and mentoring junior engineers and modellersExperience reviewing and interpreting architectural, mechanical, and electrical design drawings.Expertise in sustainable design, energy efficiency, and building energy simulation to support the firms growing energy modeling division.The applicant should be self-directed and passionate about sustainability. The ideal applicant will havethe flexibility and capacity to work on a wide variety of projects and demonstrate a capability to
collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams. The individual will support a client-facing team and
coordinate tasks to achieve project goals.
