The Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) is a competent professional responsible for delivering nursing care to patients of varying age groups by utilizing the nursing process and practice standards. The role involves :
- Applying nursing practice competencies to ensure safe, patient- and family-centered care outcomes;
- Using leadership skills to coordinate care and communicate effectively with the healthcare team;
- Developing professionally through continuous learning and professional profile competencies;
- Evaluating care outcomes based on evidence, quality models, and patient safety goals.
The nurse demonstrates competency in caring for complex patients and collaborates with the care team to improve care quality. Under supervision, responsibilities include :
Conducting comprehensive assessments of patient health status from admission to discharge, addressing all aspects including age, gender, cultural, and psychosocial factors, and proactively ensuring safety;Administering medications within licensure authority, assessing effects, and documenting appropriately, adhering to safety guidelines;Planning individualized care with patients and families, integrating multidisciplinary data, and setting age-specific care goals;Prioritizing patient problems and implementing interventions to meet health needs and promote safety;Assessing and evaluating patient and family teaching outcomes, ensuring cultural sensitivity;Reviewing care responses and revising plans to promote outcomes and prevent adverse events;Advocating for patients and families, respecting their rights, and preparing them for discharge;Collaborating with healthcare providers and delegating appropriately to ensure safe care.This position also involves :
Maintaining professional conduct, supervising students, and orienting new staff;Acting as relief charge nurse when needed;Engaging in continuing education, evidence-based practices, and team communication;Performing duties cost-effectively and ensuring compliance with policies, HIPAA, and standards.Shift details include 8-12 hour shifts with flexibility, and occasional overtime.
