Senior Clinical Pharmacist - Medicine Specialities (LW)

Overview

6 Month Secondment Opportunities for pharmacists to join the Medicine pharmacy service in NHS Fife. Roles include supporting Neurology and Ophthalmology, with potential evening, weekend and public holiday service provision as part of the wider pharmacy team. Fixed term posts to help optimise service delivery and reduce patient waiting times. You will assist in the management and review of patients, ideally working as an independent prescriber with a defined patient caseload in the outpatient setting, to maximise pharmaceutical input into patient care.

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, appropriate and clinically effective use of medicines. This includes communicating highly complex information to clinicians, nurses, non-medical prescribers, carers and patients, and implementing and monitoring clinical pathways for treatments, including review of treatment in line with national guidance. You will contribute to clinical governance, education and training, medicine efficiencies, clinical risk and audit. There may be opportunity for additional hours within the medical specialties pharmacy team for those interested.

Non medical prescribing qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the management and review of patients with a defined outpatient caseload to maximise pharmaceutical input into patient care.

• Work as part of the multidisciplinary team and support transformational improvement within the service.
• Potentially undertake additional hours within the medical specialties pharmacy team.
