Overview
We are looking for a BESS Engineer O&M who plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and long‑term performance of the company’s Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Solar PV assets across LATAM. This position provides specialized technical support to field O&M teams, develops and standardizes maintenance processes, and drives continuous improvement initiatives oriented toward asset integrity, safety, risk mitigation, and generation and storage performance maximization.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert‑level technical support to O&M teams in BESS and PV plants, balancing technical, safety, and financial aspects to ensure optimal asset performance.
- Lead and support failure investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for critical events in BESS systems (PCS, batteries, BMS) and PV plants (inverters, trackers).
- Develop, improve, and standardize maintenance procedures, engineering guidelines, and technical documentation for BESS and PV equipment.
- Enhance preventive and predictive maintenance plans, incorporating condition‑based, reliability‑centered, and risk‑based strategies.
- Interface with OEMs (battery manufacturers, PCS suppliers, inverter OEMs, tracker providers, transformer OEMs, etc.) to resolve technical issues, review warranties, and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze performance data and plant diagnostics (alarms, trends, availability, state‑of‑charge behavior, degradation patterns, PR losses, etc.) and propose improvement actions.
- Support implementation of digital and analytical models for failure detection, battery health assessment, thermal behavior, and PV performance deviation identification.
- Coordinate engineering evaluations and risk assessments related to asset condition, equipment failures, operational hazards, and lifecycle planning. Contribute to technical training and knowledge transfer for O&M field teams and service providers.
- Collaborate with Construction, Asset Management, HSE, and Digital Office teams to ensure engineering alignment throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Participate in development and implementation of company standards for BESS commissioning, PV acceptance testing, safety protocols, and asset care.
Qualifications
At least 4–7 years of experience in asset maintenance, reliability engineering, or technical operations in Solar PV, BESS, electrical substations, or power systems (MANDATORY).Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related Engineering.Postgraduate studies in Power Systems, Renewables, Reliability Engineering, or Energy Storage are a plus.Root Cause Analysis methodologies (RCA, 5 Whys, FMEA).Knowledge of standards (IEC, IEEE, ISO 55000).Strong understanding of maintenance engineering principles for inverter‑based and energy storage technologies.Benefits
