Location

Hybrid / remote-friendly. The preferred candidate should be based in Latin America, preferably aligning with ET (Eastern Time) or PT (Pacific Time). Candidates in Santiago, Chile may work from our Santiago office as remote / hybrid employees; candidates outside Santiago will be fully remote.

The Role

Senior Back-End Engineer with expertise in NodeJS to join our team. You will architect and develop robust server-side applications, design complex data structures, and implement high-performance database solutions using ORMs like TypeORM or Prisma. You will ensure the scalability, security, and responsiveness of backend systems, develop and optimize APIs and data pipelines, and integrate with frontend applications. You will lead technical decisions, mentor junior and intermediate developers, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams. Strong NodeJS programming skills, extensive TypeScript experience, and a track record of developing scalable and innovative applications are required. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and leading technical initiatives is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using NodeJS and TypeScript
• Design and implement high-performance, secure RESTful APIs and microservices
• Lead the design and implementation of complex data models and efficient database operations using ORMs (TypeORM or Prisma)
• Write high-quality, well-documented, and testable code
• Lead code reviews and provide technical guidance to the development team
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize complex systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly frontend developers
• Drive technical decision-making and architectural designs
• Mentor junior and intermediate developers, fostering their professional growth
• Contribute to technical project planning and execution
• Ensure best practices in security, performance, and code quality
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation
