Job Summary
In this role, you will be required to prepare geotechnical / soil mechanics engineering calculations and reports for one or more projects under the supervision of an experienced geotechnical engineering specialist. You will provide input to the geotechnical portion of multidisciplinary engineering studies, coordinate with others to develop adequate solutions, and present results to the project team. As a mid-experienced specialist, you will exercise increasing autonomy and engineering judgment, supervise other team members on specific tasks, ensure high-value results, and travel to job sites for technical inspections and subsurface investigation campaigns.
Major Responsibilities
Prepare geotechnical calculations and develop conceptual designs, studies, and reports, mainly for mining projects.Provide input on geotechnical engineering aspects such as slope stability, bearing capacity, settlements, foundations, etc., in support of civil designs.Support one or more projects and studies executed worldwide, as dictated by need and availability.Meet schedule and budget for assigned tasks while following company procedures and maintaining high technical quality.Provide technical direction and assign work to engineers, designers, and drafters who assist on specific assignments in project environments.Seek input from and coordinate work tasks with other technical specialists, engineering disciplines, and project personnel.Understand standard engineering work planning, scheduling, and cost estimating.Travel to job sites, participate in technical inspections, and / or assist in overseeing subsurface investigation campaigns.Report to and receive functional oversight and technical supervision from an experienced Geotechnical Engineering Specialist.Participate in and foster a work environment based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.Education and Experience Requirements
Civil Engineering professional certification recognized in Chile, major in Geotechnical / Soil Mechanics engineering, and at least 5 years of experience in this technical field.Master’s or Ph.D. in Geotechnical / Soil Mechanics engineering.Required Knowledge and Skills
Fluently communicate in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing.Previous experience on a large industrial EPC project is a plus.Strong organizational, teamwork, problem‑solving abilities, a can‑do attitude, and a desire to innovate.Proficiency in specialty computer programs such as Slope / W, Plaxis 2D / 3D, Settle, APILE+, or similar.Working knowledge of Chilean and international applicable codes, standards, and regulations (NCh, ASTM, etc.).Ability to work effectively on distributed teams whose members reside in several offices, communicating primarily by phone or email.Proactive in coordinating and completing work on time in a multidisciplinary environment.Autonomy and solid engineering judgment in performing assigned tasks.Willingness and ability to travel to and remain at jobsites on short‑term assignments (from a few days up to several weeks).#J-18808-Ljbffr
