The Work You’ll Do

As a Senior Java Developer at Sovos, you’ll be more than a coder – you’ll be a technical leader and problem solver who transforms complex compliance challenges into elegant, scalable solutions that impact half the Fortune 500. In this role, you’ll guide development teams through the full software lifecycle while building cutting‑edge applications that process billions of transactions across 19,000 global tax jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Build a collaborative partnership within your Scrum Team while being a technical advisor to the Product Manager
• Participate in the development, testing and deployment of software applications and solutions
• Champion a culture of code quality and continual learning and growth throughout the department
• Conduct peer code reviews to ensure quality
• Use your analytical and problem‑solving skills for programming and user interface design
• Integrate technology, process, test and business practices
• Follow and improve the team's Continuous Development and Continuous Integration practices
• Work with other team members to solve complex problems, including UX / UI designers, QA testers, and DBAs
• Troubleshoot issues and bugs within your application of expertise
• Author or contribute to technical design documentation, release notes, bug‑fix documentation
• Perform and design testing protocols to ensure that the product is fully tested
• Implement AI‑driven solutions to enhance software functionality, automate processes, and improve data analytics capabilities across tax compliance applications
