Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Director is a senior leader responsible for driving operational excellence and strategic transformation in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment within the defined budget. As a key member of the leadership team, the Operations Director partners with executives to shape long‑term strategies that enhance productivity, elevate customer experience, and strengthen GM Financial’s position as a market leader.
Role Scope
International Operations (IO) Chile : Retail and Wholesale Credit, Collections, Salvage, Customer and Retail Servicing and Business Integration Team (BIT).
Responsibilities
- Shape Operational Strategy : Collaborate with senior leadership to define performance goals and long‑term operational plans aligned with GM Financial’s global vision. Translate corporate goals into executable plans that drive efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Drive Efficiency & Innovation : Lead process optimization initiatives that maximize productivity, reduce costs, and enhance customer‑centricity.
- Enable Growth : Develop strategies to scale programs enterprise‑wide, ensuring agility and resilience in a rapidly evolving market.
- Financial Stewardship : Partner with project managers to design operational, financial, and budgetary frameworks that support sustainable growth.
- Performance Excellence : Monitor key metrics and implement systems that provide visibility into progress, risks, and opportunities. Promote a data‑driven culture focused on accountability and results.
- Cross‑Functional Leadership : Build strong relationships with department heads, GM Chile, dealers, external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals.
- Compliance & Governance : Ensure adherence to GMF policies, regulatory standards, and legal requirements. Strengthen operational risk management practices and governance frameworks to safeguard company assets and reputation.
- Regulatory Framework : Lead the implementation of new evolving regulations impacting the operating model, ensuring timely adaption of processes and systems.
- People Leadership : Work closely with HR to foster a culture of trust, inclusion, and high performance, empowering teams to deliver exceptional results. Lead a team of approximately 50 people (plus vendors), ensuring best‑in‑class processes and the highest customer experience and satisfaction results.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field; Master’s degree preferred.10+ years of senior leadership experience within financial services or automotive industry.Expertise in operational functions including credit, collections, customer service, finance, risk, and people management.Proven track record in strategic planning, process optimization, and budget management.Strong knowledge of industry regulations and compliance frameworks.Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (written and verbal).Advanced Microsoft Office skills.Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to anticipate trends, navigate complex environments and drive transformation.Exceptional organizational and communication skills; adept at influencing across all levels.Ability to streamline and implement structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business demands.Strong negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities.Advanced problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, leveraging analytics, data insights and performance metrics to guide strategic and operational priorities.Change management and transformation leadership, capable of leading through ambiguity and inspiring teams to embrace innovation and continuous improvement.Collaborative mindset with a focus on positive and customer‑centric outcomes.Think of creative solutions others may not have considered.Ability to work effectively across functional groups and various levels within the organization to achieve positive results.Seniority level
