Job Summary
:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and special studies for process/chemical design for large projects. You will lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of components and processes used in process/chemical for projects with unique requirements. Your coordination will ensure that complex technical issues are resolved, clients are satisfied, and project needs are met.
Major Responsibilities:
- Planning and conducting independent Process/Chemical work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of process/Chemical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.
- Leading the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs). Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
- Coordinating and interfacing as directed with the day-to-day technical work of personnel.
- Communicating complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
- Developing conceptual designs for Process/Chemical engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.
- Performing relief system design, including Pressure Safety valve (PSV) sizing, flare hydraulics and radiation analysis.
- Performing safety, environmental and operability reviews (HAZOP, CHAP).
- Preparing or overseeing the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
- Coordinating with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of Process/Chemical aspects of the work.
- Mentoring Process/Chemical engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development. Providing input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Role requires a Metallurgical/Chemical Civil Engineer (or international equivalent) with at least 10 years of experience in design and operations of copper concentrator plants.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in the development and management of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's) is required in addition to the development of Mass and Water Balances, Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process Design Criteria, Operation Philosophies.
