Overview
HR Business Partner (Regions Group-Southern Cone) - Specialist / Senior Associate. We are seeking a dedicated Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) with a strong focus on client satisfaction and results. You will serve as an advisor to employees and the business within the Southern Cone region, providing guidance on talent management processes and practices, designing and implementing HR initiatives, and supporting complex organizational change efforts. You will promote and deliver a wide range of HR initiatives, programs, and services, aligning business needs with the overall HR service portfolio, while ensuring that initiatives under the People Strategy address HR priorities in the region.
The HRBP reports to the Head of the Human Resources Business Partner – Regions Group and works in close collaboration with the HR Department teams at Headquarters in Washington, D.C., including a dedicated group of HR Business Partners. The role fosters strong coordination between the regions and HQ, ensuring the delivery of high-value services aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
You will work in the Human Resources Department (HRD), which is responsible for the administration and development of the IDB Group. The main functions of the Department include managing the entire employee lifecycle, implementing the People Strategy as well as programs that support the IDB’s results-based business model. HRD is also dedicated to realizing its mission of delivering human-centered experiences and strategically partnering with professionals passionate about improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. What you'll do
- Act as a bridge between the region and Human Resources broader agenda, ensuring local workforce needs are addressed while promoting consistent application of institutional HR frameworks, thereby reinforcing a consistent and coordinated Human Resources approach across the organization.
- Collaborate closely with the three HR Business Partners Groups at Headquarters that work with the public, private and corporate parts of the IDB Group to ensure consistent and cohesive application of HR solutions across the IDB Group.
- Partner with leaders in assigned country offices to assess staffing needs, talent management initiatives, and mobility opportunities.
- Facilitate recruitment processes by aligning local talent pipelines with institutional standards and ensuring timely staffing decisions.
- Support performance management processes, ensuring consistency, fairness, and development-oriented feedback.
- Drive employee engagement by partnering with regional leaders to design and implement initiatives that foster inclusion, recognition, and well-being, while ensuring feedback from staff in the field is regularly captured and acted upon in alignment with institutional values.
- With the support of the Labor Relations team, provide guidance on employee relations and HR policies, balancing regional realities with institutional standards.
- Act as a trusted advisor and sounding board for staff and leaders in the region, ensuring a transparent and fair approach to HR practices and programs.
- Promote employee well-being, psychological safety, and inclusion in diverse field settings.
- Analyze data and metrics to promote data-driven decision-making, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and goals.
What you’ll need
Education : Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field.Experience : 3-4 years in an international business environment. Experience in human resources matters is a plus, either as a subject matter expert or in a generalist or business partner role in areas such as administration of HR programs, workforce planning, client advice, implementation of HR policies or organizational development. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships across levels and locations is crucial.Languages : Proficiency in both Spanish and English.Engagement : Ability to take initiative, innovate to tackle complex problems, and contribute to the design of customer-centric HR solutions.Requirements
Citizenship : Must be eligible to work in the job location(s) without sponsorship.Consanguinity : No family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.Type of contract and duration
National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
