Job Description
Albemarle is hiring a Construction Manager – DLE based in Santiago, Chile.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategy and execution of construction and fabrication for the assigned project, working with the Project Director to plan, organize, and control construction execution.
- Review and monitor project performance and productivity indicators for the work area.
- Maintain constant vigilance for personal and surrounding worker safety, communicate unsafe conditions immediately, and provide direction to ensure construction and design are performed safely.
- Show and defend Albemarle’s core values within the project team.
- Consult extensively with internal and external project team members, with high confidence in scientific interpretation and advice.
- Initiate and maintain extensive contact with key engineering and construction management professionals of Albemarle, its suppliers, and service providers.
- Influence management with strategic technical direction.
- Effectively advise the company on applicable technology and innovation in the project control domain.
- Mentor project team on technical and commercial aspects.
- Negotiate critical and controversial issues with leaders and senior‑level managers.
- Lead safety talks, joint committee activities and all activities generated by the SHE supervisory body and external related to Accident Prevention and Occupational Diseases.
Qualifications
- Five (5) years accredited title or global equivalent in applicable field of study and fifteen (15) years of work experience.
- Proficiency with typical project control tools and systems such as SAP, Excel, Primavera (P6).
- Ten or more years of experience in an industrial mining and/or petrochemical or similar environment.
- Minimum of ten years working as a construction leader in an industrial manufacturing, petrochemical or mining environment, with progressive demonstrated experience in capital project execution.
- Preferred that experience is a combination of time in office and time in a plant or manufacturing environment.
- Practical experience working inside a project planning environment from its conceptual engineering phase to commissioning.
Preferred
- Effectively work with other staff and plant staff in an accelerated environment.
- Certified experience in Contract Management.
- Certified experience managing local companies of various sizes.
- Broad deep knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning processes related to capital project planning and execution.
- Knowledge of project controls, including estimation, scheduling, risk management and cost control. Competent in the development, interpretation and evaluation of technical and project reports.
