Speechify is hiring a Software Engineer for the Android Core Product in Santiago, Chile. The mission of Speechify is to make sure that reading is never a barrier to learning. Over 30 million people use Speechify's text-to-speech products to turn PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites into audio to read faster, read more, and remember more. Speechify offers iOS, Android, Mac apps, a Chrome extension, and a Web App. Speechify is a distributed company with no office location.

Overview

With the growth of our Android app, being the most used text-to-speech app in the Play Store, we seek a Senior Android Engineer to support the growing user base and work on new projects to push us forward. This is a key role for someone who thinks strategically, thrives in fast-paced environments, and has experience building user-friendly experiences. We are a flat organization that values leadership through excellent technical skills, delivering results, strong work ethic, clear communication, and a focus on winning. Our interview process involves several technical interviews and aims to be completed within 1 week.

What You’ll Do

• Owning major features and working closely with our design team — take ownership of features inside the app and deliver high-quality results
• Shape the future of our Android team
• Own, maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Participate in discussions across Product, Design, and Engineering
• Review pull requests and support other teammates
• Handle critical issues or cope with unexpected challenges
• Take ownership of feature releases and provide nightly builds for the QA team
