This position supports Global Ocean Transport and Trade Compliance, focusing on local requirements, finding cost-effective freight forwarders, ensuring compliance with laws to avoid sanctions, and maintaining the smooth flow of international supply chains from Asia, Mexico, and the USA to Chile. The role involves planning with shipping companies, customs agents, and local transport, ensuring timely delivery and regulatory compliance.

The role is crucial for achieving customer fill rates and ensuring containers are on time based on forecasts and inventory at the origin.

A Day in the Life of an Imports Analyst

Shipping, Customs & Inbound Coordination (45%)

  • Approve shipments at origin and monitor delays.
  • Coordinate customs clearance at San Antonio and Valparaíso ports.
  • Prepare documentation, images, and certifications for customs compliance.
  • Ensure funds are available for taxes and that paperwork meets standards.
  • Manage delivery from port to warehouse and container scheduling.
  • Review invoices and input costs into the SONDA system.

Internal Communication & Team Coordination (20%)

  • Coordinate team activities and provide shipment updates and ETAs for planning.
  • Vendor & Carrier Coordination (20%)

  • Plan and follow up with carriers and customs brokers to ensure service efficiency.
  • Vendor Analysis (15%)

  • Analyze potential new suppliers, compare costs, and support vendor selection decisions.
  • What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Foreign Trade or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in import / export logistics.
  • Knowledge of international agreements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with SAP for import processes.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Negotiation experience with freight forwarders and customs.
